Khazanah Nasional Berhad (“Khazanah”), the Government’s investment holding fund, is pleased to announce updates and further enhancement to its Senior Leadership Team (“SLT”), namely the departure of its Head of the Strategic Human Capital Management (“SHCM”) Division and the appointment of a new Executive Director of Investments.

First and foremost, Khazanah would like to record its appreciation to Shahnaz Al-Sadat, who will be relinquishing her position as the Executive Director of SHCM, effective 1 August 2011. She will be heading Khazanah’s education services company, LeapEd Services Sdn. Bhd., from 15 October 2011. Shahnaz has been an integral part of the revamping of Khazanah that started in May 2004, having joined the company in August 2004 as Director and Chief Financial Officer. She was then appointed Executive Director and Head of SHCM in January 2009. Prior to Khazanah, Shahnaz was with Malaysia Airlines System Berhad (“MAS”) as the General Manager, Internal Audit and a member of the MAS Management Committee.

Khazanah Managing Director, Tan Sri Dato’ Azman Hj. Mokhtar said, “Shahnaz has been a key part of Khazanah over the last seven years, and was literally the first addition to my senior leadership team in August 2004. Whatever has been achieved since then could not have been achieved without the solid foundations provided by Shahnaz’s work in Finance and Human Capital development.”

“While her loss will be felt by all of us, we are also very happy that she will be leaving us to pursue her passion for education, from within the extended family of the Khazanah group,” Tan Sri Azman added. Following Shahnaz’s reassignment, Khazanah’s Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer, Dato’ Mohammad Zainal Shaari, will additionally act as Executive Director of SHCM, effective 1 July 2011.

Khazanah would also like to announce the appointment of Kenneth Shen as Executive Director of Investments effective 15 July 2011. Kenneth brings more than 25 years of experience in global investment banking and investment management. He will be one of eight Executive Directors of Investments at Khazanah. Kenneth was formerly with Qatar Investment Authority (“QIA”) where he served most recently as an Advisor to the CEO and a Member of the Board of Directors for Qatar Holding LLC. In addition, Kenneth oversaw QIA’s direct investments in public and private companies as well as investments in private equity, special situations and venture capital funds. Prior to that, he served in Citigroup Global Markets Inc., Salomon Brothers Inc., Lehman Brothers Inc. and Kidd, Kamm & Company.

Kenneth received a Bachelor of Arts degree (Magna Cum Laude) in East Asian Languages and Civilisations (Japanese) and Economics from Harvard College and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.
