Khazanah and Huawei to collaborate on Huawei Regional Data Hosting and Logistics Centre in Iskandar Malaysia

Khazanah Nasional Berhad (“Khazanah”) today announced that it has entered into a collaboration agreement with Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. (“Huawei”) for the establishment of the Huawei Regional Data Hosting and Logistics Center to be located in Nusajaya, Iskandar Malaysia.

Khazanah and Huawei exchanged the collaboration agreement at a ceremony witnessed by Prime Minister of Malaysia, Y.A.B. Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak, and President of the People’s Republic of China, His Excellency Mr. Xi Jinping. Khazanah was represented by Khazanah Executive Director, Ben Chan while Huawei, a Fortune Global 500 Company that is a leading global information and communications technology (“ICT”) solutions provider, was represented by President of Huawei South Pacific Region, Mr. David Wei Cheng Min.

Under the collaboration agreement, Khazanah will provide the necessary facilitation for Huawei to set up the proposed Huawei Regional Data Hosting and Logistics Centre. The centre will occupy combined office and warehouse space totalling 90,000 square feet and will serve Huawei’s regional customers, leveraging on the strategic location of Iskandar Malaysia as well as supportive government investment incentives. The establishment of the centre is expected to create 600 jobs in various managerial, technical and administrative positions. In addition, Huawei will be involved in developing local ICT expertise to meet the centre’s manpower requirements.
