Khazanah announces appointments and changes to refresh and further strengthen Senior Leadership Team

Khazanah Nasional Berhad (“Khazanah”) today announced several new appointments and changes to its Senior Leadership Team (“SLT”), as follows:

  1. Nik Rizal Kamil, Director, Investments is promoted to Executive Director, Investments, with effect from 1st April 2017.
  2. Serena Tan Mei Shwen, Director, Investments is promoted to Executive Director, Investments, with effect from 1st April 2017.
  3. Roni Lihawa Abdul Wahab will rejoin Khazanah as Executive Director on 1st May 2017 from HSBC Bank Malaysia Bhd, where he is currently Managing Director, Head of Global Banking.
  4. Datuk Dominic Silva, Executive Director, Investments and Head of Investments, will be leaving Khazanah on 31st July 2017 after serving Khazanah for nine years. He will continue to represent Khazanah as a nominee Non-Executive Director on the Board of Avicennia Capital Sdn Bhd, the 100%-owned insurance holding company of Khazanah.
  5. Ahmad Farouk Mohammed, Executive Director, Investments will be leaving Khazanah on 30th April 2017 after serving Khazanah for 11 years. He will assume the role of Chief Strategy Officer at Avicennia Capital Sdn Bhd. Farouk will also continue to represent Khazanah as a nominee Non-Executive Director on the Board of Cenviro Sdn Bhd.
  6. Ati Othman, Director, Managing Director’s Office and Chief Risk Officer, left Khazanah on 31st January 2017, after serving for eight years.
  7. As a transition from Datuk Dominic’s departure and to facilitate longer-term succession planning, Dato’ Noorazman Abdul Aziz, Executive Director, Investments and Datuk Ben Chan, Executive Director, Khazanah Nasional Consulting (Beijing) Company Limited, will jointly lead the Investments division, for an interim period from 1st June 2017 to 31st December 2017. Dato’ Noorazman and Datuk Ben will be appointed Executive Director, Co-Head of Investments (Divisional Management) and Executive Director, Co-Head of Investments (Transactions), respectively.
  8. Dato’ Mohd. Izani Ghani, Executive Director, Finance and Chief Financial Officer, will be appointed as Executive Director, Investments, with effect from 1st June 2017. His responsibilities as Executive Director, Investments will include overseeing the operations of Khazanah Turkey Regional Office.
  9. Faridah Bakar Ali, Director, Finance, will be appointed as Chief Financial Officer, with effect from 1st June 2017.
  10. Suhana Dewi Selamat was appointed Director, Managing Director’s Office and Chief Risk Officer on 1st February 2017, assuming the role from Ati Othman.

The new appointments and changes are part of Khazanah’s periodic refresh and strengthening of its Senior Leadership Team.

Nik Rizal Kamil joined Khazanah in April 2011 as Senior Vice President, Investments. He started his professional career as an accountant and auditor with Coopers & Lybrand United Kingdom before joining Arthur Andersen & Co. He has also served with several Royal Dutch Shell companies in the region and the United Kingdom. Nik Rizal holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in Economics and Accounting from University of Bristol, and a M.Sc. (Finance) from London Business School. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants England and Wales (“ICAEW”).

Serena Tan Mei Shwen joined Khazanah as Vice President, Investments in 2005. Prior to Khazanah, she was with Boston Consulting Group and McKinsey & Co. She has also served with Lippo Bank in Indonesia, under secondment from Khazanah for two years. Serena holds a Bachelor of Commence degree in Accounting and Finance from Macquarie University, Australia, and a Master’s in Business Administration under the MIT Sloan Fellows programme at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Roni Lihawa Abdul Wahab is currently Managing Director, Head of Global Banking at HSBC Bank Malaysia Berhad. His previous stint at Khazanah was as Director, Investments from 2005 to 2010. Roni started his career in investment banking with Capstar Partners Inc. and J.P Morgan Securities Inc. in New York. He has also worked at UEM Group and at Credit Suisse, where he was Director, Head of Malaysia Coverage. Roni holds a B.Sc. (Economics) majoring in Corporate Finance and Actuarial Science from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.

Faridah Bakar Ali joined Khazanah as Assistant Vice President, Finance in May 2006. Prior to joining Khazanah, she was with PricewaterhouseCoopers Malaysia and BP Malaysia Berhad. Faridah holds a B.A. in Accounting and Finance from University of Lancaster, United Kingdom. She is an Associate of the ICAEW and a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (“MIA”).

Suhana Dewi Selamat joined Khazanah as Senior Vice President, Investments in November 2012. Prior to joining Khazanah, Suhana was the Director/ Country Head of Compliance with Credit Suisse in Malaysia. She has more than 20 years of experience in legal, regulatory and compliance roles. She also serves on the Board of Trustees of WWF Malaysia as its Honorary Legal Adviser. Suhana read law at London School of Economics. She was called to the Malaysian Bar in 1997.

The new appointments and changes to the SLT supplements Khazanah’s ongoing institutionalisation efforts, which are a key focus for the organisation. With this announcement, Khazanah’s SLT led by Managing Director Tan Sri Dato’ Azman Hj. Mokhtar will have 21 members.
