Our Approach to Sustainability

Sustainability is integral to how Khazanah delivers on its mandate as a long-term investor.

Sustainability is not a parallel agenda, but a lens through which we assess value, manage risk and shape outcomes across our portfolio and operations. Our approach is anchored in the Securing the Future framework, which defines the outcomes that matter most for Malaysia: supporting a stable and strong economy, advancing liveability for all, and enabling thriving communities. Informed by a double materiality perspective, it recognises both how sustainability factors affect our portfolio and how our investments impact the broader economy, society and environment. It represent a fuller view of responsibility that looks beyond financial returns alone.

We embed this approach across the organisation through three roles. As a Responsible Investor, we integrate material sustainability factors into how we evaluate, steward and manage investments, applying responsible investment principles to protect long-term value and portfolio resilience.

As a National Advocate, we draw on our standing as a sovereign wealth fund and asset owner to engage stakeholders and help shape the conversations that influence industries and policy. As a Committed Enterprise, we build capabilities, develop our people and operate responsibly as an organisation.

Together, these roles set a consistent direction for decision-making, ensuring that sustainability is embedded and reflected in how we invest, operate and engage.
