Khazanah Nasional Berhad (“Khazanah”), UEM Land Holdings Berhad (“UEM Land”) and Iskandar Investment Berhad (“IIB”) are pleased to announce that Karnival Nusajaya will be held on September 22nd and 23rd, as part of the celebrations to mark the successful launch of several key catalytic projects in and around Nusajaya, in Iskandar Malaysia, Johor.
Karnival Nusajaya which will be held at Dataran Mahkota, Kota Iskandar, will see an exciting line-up of popular singers and actors to thrill and entertain the public during the two-day festival. The festival ends each day with a two-hour concert with performances by some of the country’s most celebrated singers such as Jaclyn Victor, Dayang Nurfaizah, Ramli Sarip and Ramlah Ram.
The event is jointly organized by Khazanah, UEM Land and IIB, with the support of the Johor State Government and Iskandar Regional Development Authority (“IRDA”).
Admission to Karnival Nusajaya is free and the public is encouraged to participate in the fun-filled fair, complete with games for people of all ages including children and families. To help spread the cheer, there will be shuttle buses to ferry people young and old from the surrounding communities in and around Nusajaya to the carnival. The public can also enjoy free shuttle bus services in Larkin, Gelang Patah and Johor Bahru Central to Dataran Mahkota.
Karnival Nusajaya, besides entertainment and fun, will also host 29 companies at Dataran Mahkota who will take part in a career fair to highlight job opportunities in Iskandar Malaysia. Those who attend the carnival can also bring along their CVs if they are looking for career opportunities in the Iskandar Malaysia region.
The expansion of economic activities in and around Iskandar Malaysia continues to generate new employment opportunities, said Tan Sri Dato’ Azman Mokhtar, Managing Director of Khazanah.
Tan Sri Azman said: “The carnival is being held in conjunction with the delivery of several catalytic projects in September such as Marlborough College, LEGOLAND Malaysia, as well as Corporate Responsibility initiatives such as Johan Cruyff Court Iskandar Malaysia in Johor Bahru. We are happy to say that Iskandar Malaysia has begun to deliver what we promised five years ago. There is more to come and we are confident that the people of Johor and Malaysia as a whole will benefit further from the continued progress and development.”
“The carnival will entertain and be a conduit for people seeking jobs as there will also be a career fair during the festivities. We want the people of Johor to share in the celebrations as numerous catalyticprojects have already been unveiled and many more in the pipeline,” Dato’ Wan Abdullah Wan Ibrahim, Group Managing Director of UEM Land added.
Datuk Syed Mohamed Syed Ibrahim, President/CEO of IIB concurred, adding that catalytic projects such as Marlborough College and LEGOLAND Malaysia completed thus far, have created substantial impact and generated huge multiplier effects which have benefited the local economy, Johoreans and the country as a whole.
The career fair will see companies like UEM Group, Celcom, TM, CIMB, Proton, IIB and Permodalan Nasional Berhad setting up booths to process job applications and conduct interviews for interested job seekers attending the carnival.
Visitors to the Karnival Nusajaya will also get the opportunity to mingle with noted television personalities such as Elaine Daly, Nazruddin Rahman and Nabila Huda while a variety of activities including game show quizzes, karaoke sessions with celebrities and cooking programmes have been lined up. There will also be a Lego play area for children at Karnival Nusajaya in conjunction with the opening of LEGOLAND Malaysia in September.
Besides the carnival, the 9th JB Arts Festival at Bukit Timbalan is also underway this month until the 29th of September to add more colour to the Iskandar Malaysia celebrations. A wide range of cultural and contemporary performances by local and foreign artistes is ongoing. UEM Land and IIB are the Strategic Partners of the arts festival.
