Strengthening Malaysia’s Position in
Semiconductor & Advanced Manufacturing

Khazanah Nasional, through its Dana Impak strategic investment programme, is supporting Malaysia’s move up the global semiconductor and advanced manufacturing value chain.

Strategic Capital to Enhance Malaysia’s Semiconductor Ecosystem

The initiative channels capital through various investment approaches such as catalytic partnerships with funds, direct investments and joint ventures—aiming to boost the nation’s economic complexity and industrial capabilities.

Malaysia aims to strengthen and elevate its position in the global semiconductor industry. Building on its established strengths in assembly, testing, and packaging (ATP), the country is now focused on moving up the value chain into higher-value segments such as integrated circuit (IC) design, semiconductor manufacturing equipment and materials, and advanced packaging.

Key Aspirations for Semiconductor
& Advanced Manufacturing

Moving Up the Value Chain

Enhance Malaysia’s strengths in assembly test and packaging while increasing the nation’s participation in higher-value segments like IC design, advanced packaging, and semiconductor manufacturing equipment and materials

Strengthening the Domestic Supply Chain

Harnessing local capabilities by increase their participation in the Malaysian supply chain while enabling further integration into regional and global ecosystem.

Enhancing the Capabilities of Malaysian Semiconductor Firms and Talent

Developing local firms and talent through the creation of high-skilled employment as well as partnerships with global industry players or increased R&D activity in Malaysia.
