Catalysing the Venture Capital (VC) Ecosystem

Jelawang Capital is a subsidiary of Khazanah Nasional and it is Malaysia's National Fund-of-Funds, an initiative under Dana Impak, aimed at developing Malaysia's venture capital ecosystem via investments and partnerships with fund managers.

Capital Flow for Progress

Named after Malaysia's tallest waterfall, Jelawang Capital reflects the flow of capital into our local VC ecosystem – the stream of capital to support GPs, startups, and entrepreneurs.

As startups grow and prosper, this drives innovation, high-value job creation, technological and economic advancement, enriching communities and fostering a culture of progress.

When startups mature and succeed, they become catalysts for broader economic and social development. Their contributions - sharing best practices, offering mentorship, and providing insights - help foster a more resilient, dynamic venture capital ecosystem for future generations.

Empowering Growth through EMP and RMI

Jelawang Capital channels its investments through skilled fund managers, ensuring that capital flows to the most promising startups, driving value creation and sustainable growth.

At the core of this mission are two flagship programmes:

Emerging Fund Managers' Programme
(EMP)

The EMP aims to support up-and-coming Malaysian venture capital (VC) fund managers in building strong institutional track records and boosting their fundraising credibility.

Through access to institutional design frameworks and governance tools, the programme equips these fund managers with the capabilities needed for long-term success.

Stronger local VCs will, in turn, provide Malaysian startups with better access to capital, deeper support, and greater opportunities for growth—ultimately contributing to a more robust and dynamic innovation economy in Malaysia.

Regional Fund Managers' Initiative
(RMI)

The RMI focuses on attracting experienced global fund managers with a proven history of enriching local startup ecosystems.

By facilitating the entry of international capital, capabilities, and global networks, the RMI positions Malaysia as an increasingly attractive investment hub, anchored by credible fund managers and strategic cross-border partnerships.

This strategic move seeks to foster collaborative partnerships with Malaysian companies to increase productivity and knowledge transfer, as well as unearth and support new Malaysian entrepreneurs.
