KHAZANAH, UM SIGN MOU FOR UMCORS’ INAUGURAL CHAIR
Khazanah Nasional Berhad (Khazanah) is pleased to announce that it has today entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with University of Malaya (UM) to endow UM’s Malaysian Centre of Regulatory Studies (UMCoRS) through the Khazanah Nasional Chair.
The endowment, the first to be accorded to UMCoRS, is part of hazanah’s Human Capital Development agenda. Khazanah’s Executive Director of Research and Investment Strategy, Dr. Nungsari Ahmad Radhi believes that the Khazanah Nasional Chair will help facilitate the need for long-term capacity building in the area of regulatory studies, in line with the work under the ‘Managing Regulatory Environment’ initiative of the Government-Linked Company (GLC) Transformation programme.
“Today, we are entering into an MoU with UM to leverage on UM’s strength in the Humanities and the Social Sciences. We are confident that our collaboration with UM will benefit various touch points for both UM and Khazanah through our companies and global network,” said Dr. Nungsari. The Chair’s primary function is to establish, develop and lead interdisciplinary research programmes and post-graduate teaching of international quality in regulatory studies, he added.
Khazanah board member and Board Exco Chairman, Tan Sri Dato’ Md. Nor Yusof signed on behalf of the company while Dato’ Rafiah Salim, UM’s Vice Chancellor was the signatory for the university. The signing ceremony was held in conjunction with the official launch of UMCoRS by the Minister of Higher Education, YB Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.
According to Dr. Nungsari, Khazanah is collaborating with selected local public universities to develop resources at various levels as part of Khazanah’s Corporate Responsibility initiatives and in support of Khazanah’s Human Capital Development agenda. In February, Khazanah signed an MoU with Universiti Sains Malaysia in the area of Natural Sciences.
