Khazanah Nasional Berhad (“Khazanah”) today announced its updated Senior Leadership Team line-up that includes the appointment of two new Executive Directors. The two Executive Directors are Sheranjiv Sammanthan and Hisham Hamdan.

Sheranjiv, currently Director at the Managing Director’s Office (“MDO”), will assume his new position effective 1 June 2011. Prior to joining Khazanah, Sheranjiv was Senior Executive Director at PricewaterhouseCoopers Advisory Services. He has over 18 years of experience in business advisory and management consulting in the United Kingdom and Malaysia.

Hisham joins Khazanah as Executive Director of Investments. He was formerly with Sime Darby where he served for over six years and assumed several senior positions, covering strategy and business development, healthcare, energy & utilities and special projects. Hisham also has 12 years of capital markets experience in equity research and investment banking. He started his career as a process engineer in the United States. His appointment at Khazanah is effective 11 April 2011.

Meanwhile, Khazanah has recently formed Destinations Resorts and Hotels Sdn Bhd (“DRH”) (formerly known as Pantai Sabak Ventures Sdn Bhd), as its resorts and hotels investment holding company. Mohd Nadziruddin Mohd Basri has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of DRH. Mohd Nadziruddin was previously Executive Director of Investments at Khazanah, and prior to that, Khazanah’s Chief Financial Officer. Before joining Khazanah, Mohd Nadziruddin was with Malaysia Airlines System Berhad (“MAS”). During his tenure with MAS, he also oversaw the construction and opening of the Four Seasons Resort in Langkawi.

Separately, Stephen Peet has been appointed Chief Operating Officer (“COO”) of Themed Attractions and Resorts Sdn Bhd (“TAR”), Khazanah’s investment holding company for the ownership, development and operation of theme parks and themed attractions. Stephen has 23 years of senior management experience in Australia’s leading theme park businesses. He ended his 20-year tenure at Gold Coast, Australia as COO of Village Roadshow’s Theme Parks, which included Warner Bros. Movie World, Sea World, Australian Outback Spectacular, Paradise Country and Wet ‘n’ Wild Water World.

Khazanah also appointed Darrell Edwards Metzger as its special advisor for leisure and tourism sector investments in September 2010. Darrell currently sits on the boards of TAR and DRH. Darrell has extensive experience in the development and operation of leisure businesses, resort and residential communities and facilities, having begun his career at the Walt Disney Company in California. He is the Immediate Past Chair of the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (“IAAPA”). Darrell previously served as CEO of Sentosa Development Corporation in Singapore and CEO of Ocean Park in Hong Kong.

Meanwhile, Rezal Rahman, Director of Investments at Khazanah has been appointed as Executive Director and Head of Strategic Planning at Pinewood Iskandar Malaysia Studios (“PIMS”) effective 1 April 2011. Prior to joining Khazanah in August 2010, Rezal has had extensive global working experience based out of Silicon Valley, Philadelphia and Singapore. In his new role, Rezal will report directly to Michael Lake, the Chief Executive Officer of PIMS.
