KHAZANAH NASIONAL BERHAD ANNOUNCES MANAGEMENT APPOINTMENTS

As part of its ongoing organizational revamp, Khazanah Nasional Berhad (“Khazanah”) announces several new management appointments:

Ganen Sarvananthan has been appointed Director, Investments. Reporting to the Managing Director, Ganen will be a senior member of Khazanah’s team responsible for investment and divestment activities and the restructuring and reorganisation activities of selected Khazanah investee companies. Ganen’s appointment is effective 18th October 2004. Ganen joins Khazanah from UBS Investment Bank, Hong Kong, where he is currently Director, Equity Capital Markets having previously served UBS’ Investment Banking/Corporate Finance Departments in London and Singapore. Ganen is a barrister-at-law (Lincoln’s Inn, London) having graduated with LLB (Hons) from University College, London. Ganen was a recipient of the British Chevening, HRH Sultan Azlan Shah and ASEAN scholarships

Shahnaz Al-Sadat has been appointed Director, Chief Financial Officer. Shahnaz will head the finance, accounting and ICT activities of Khazanah, including funding, financial planning, financial and management reporting and ICT functions. Shahnaz joins Khazanah from Malaysian Airline System Berhad (“MAS”) where she was the General Manager, Internal Audit and a member of the Management Committee. Prior to MAS, Shahnaz spent ten years with Arthur Andersen in audit, corporate finance and process risk consulting. Shahnaz is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants and graduated with LLB (Hons) from University of Nottingham.

Ahmad Shahizam Shariff has been appointed Special Officer to the Managing Director. Ahmad Shahizam joins Khazanah from HSBC Malaysia where he was the Director, Head of Islamic Capital Markets. Ahmad Shahizam was previously in investment research at Salomon Smith Barney and ING Barings, Malaysia. Ahmad Shahizam graduated with LLB (Hons) from the London School of Economics.

Dr. Farid Sani has been appointed Special Officer to the Managing Director. Dr. Farid joins Khazanah from McKinsey & Co. Kuala Lumpur where he was an Associate. Dr. Farid holds a Doctorate, M.Eng. and BA (Hons) 1st class in Chemical Engineering from University of Cambridge.

Ahmad Kamal Hasan Basri has been appointed Assistant General Manager, Finance and ICT. Kamal will beresponsible for technology development and operations of Khazanah’s ICT and Knowledge Management infrastructure. Kamal joins Khazanah from Columbia University, New York City where he was the Associate Director of Columbia Video Network, the online education division of the Ivy League university. Kamal holds an M.Sc. and a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University.

From Khazanah’s existing staff, Salmah Sharif has been designated as Director, Head of Legal and Support. Salmah is responsible for legal, compliance and administration services at Khazanah in addition to continuing in her role as Company Secretary. Salmah was previously the Company Secretary/Legal Advisor of Khazanah. Salmah joined Khazanah in 1994 from the MIDF Group. She was admitted to the Malaysian Bar as an Advocate and Solicitor in 1990 and holds a Bachelor of Law from University Teknologi Mara. Salmah also sits on the Board of Time Engineering Berhad and several other private limited companies.

Further announcements in respect of the ongoing organizational revamp and human capital formation of Khazanah will be made in due course.
