Yayasan AMIR - Driving transformation of student outcomes

Yayasan AMIR, a non-profit foundation specially incorporated by Khazanah Nasional Berhad, is mandated to captain the first cohort of the Ministry of Education’s Trust School Programme.

The central theme of Yayasan AMIR is ‘leadership’; its very name, “Amir”, carries the meaning of ‘Chieftain’ or ‘Commander’ in Arabic, aptly reflecting its catalytic role “to drive accessibility of quality education to all public schools through a Public-Private-Partnership in Malaysia.”

The foundation’s mission towards achieving this vision is two-fold; to promote excellence in school system by improving the curriculum and delivery of education, improving the management of schools, and providing technical and financial assistance, and to create a leading network of integrated and sustainable and high quality schools.

For the first cohort of Trust Schools (year 2011), in the spirit of inclusiveness, Yayasan AMIR has selected 10 schools with a composition of existing government and government-aided schools that are a mix of primary and secondary; and urban, suburban and rural.
