Stephen S. Roach is Chairman of Morgan Stanley Asia, serving as the firm’s senior representative to clients, governments, and regulators across the region. Prior to his appointment as Asia Chairman, Mr. Roach was Morgan Stanley’s Chief Economist, heading up the firm’s highly-regarded global team of economists located in New York, London, Frankfurt, Paris, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Singapore. During his 25-year career as an economist at Morgan Stanley, Mr. Roach was widely recognised as one of Wall Street’s most influential thought leaders. His recent research focused on globalisation, the emergence of China and India, and the capital market implications of global imbalances. He is widely quoted in the financial press and other media, and has been a leading contributor to the op-ed pages of the world’s leading newspapers. He has long advised governments and policy makers around the world and frequently presents expert testimony to the US Congress. Before joining Morgan Stanley in 1982, Mr. Roach was Vice President for Economic Analysis for the Morgan Guaranty Trust Company. He also served in a senior capacity on the research staff of the Federal Reserve Board in Washington, D.C. from 1972-79. Prior to that, he was a research fellow at the Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C. Mr. Roach holds a Ph.D. in economics from New York University and a Bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Wisconsin.
Dato’ Sri Abdul Wahid Omar - `President & CEO, Maybank

Dato’ Sri Abdul Wahid bin Omar is President and CEO of Maybank, Malaysia’s largest banking group. Prior to joining Maybank, he was Group Chief Executive Officer of Telekom Malaysia Berhad from July 2004. He was formerly Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of UEM Group Berhad and UEM World Berhad as well as Executive Vice Chairman of PLUS Expressways Berhad. In 2001, he was Chief Financial Officer of Telekom Malaysia Berhad. He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (UK) and a Member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants. His strong track record in corporate and financial management began with the banking sector in 1988 when he joined Bumiputra Merchant Bankers Berhad in the Corporate Banking Department. He later took on senior management positions as Director of Group Corporate Services and Divisional Director, Capital Market & Securities of Amanah Capital Partners Berhad. He was also the Chairman of Amanah Short Deposits Berhad and a past Chairman of Association of Discount Houses in Malaysia. Dato’ Sri Abdul Wahid was also a Director of Amanah Merchant Bank Berhad. At Maybank, Dato’ Sri Abdul Wahid is a director of a number of Maybank Group companies including Mayban Fortis Holdings Berhad and Aseambankers Malaysia Berhad.
Dato’ Sri Idris Jala - Managing Director and CEO, Malaysia Airlines (MAS)

Dato’ Sri Idris Jala was appointed Managing Director and CEO of Malaysia Airlines in December 2005, in the aftermath of the company’s biggest financial loss in its corporate history. In February 2006, he announced the airline’s Business Turnaround Plan (BTP 1). From a 9-month loss of USD400 million in 2005, he succeeded in turning around the company in less than 2 years, with the airline achieving a record profit of USD260 million in 2007. Building upon its successful BTP 1, he announced Malaysia Airlines’ 5-year Business Transformation Plan (BTP 2) in January 2008. The BTP 2 features bold profit targets of up to USD630-USD950 million per annum by 2012. Under BTP 2, Malaysia Airlines aspires to achieve its profit targets by transforming into the World’s Five Star Value Carrier, while offering 5-Star products and services at affordable prices. Prior to joining Malaysia Airlines, Dato’ Sri Idris spent 23 years at Shell. Between 2002 and 2005, he was the Managing Director, Shell MDS (Malaysia) and Vice President, Shell Malaysia Gas & Power (Malaysia). He successfully led the business turnaround of Shell MDS, the first Gas-to-Liquids commercial plant in the world and also the sole supplier of clean diesel fuel for the 2004 Olympics in Athens.

Dr. Nungsari Ahmad Radhi joined Khazanah as Executive Director, Research and Investment Strategy in February 2007. After ten years in academia, he resigned as Dean of the School of Economics at Universiti Utara Malaysia before winning a Parliamentary Seat in 1995. Besides representing the Malaysian Parliament in a number of international organisations, he was also a Board member of Bank Pertanian Malaysia, Yayasan Pelajaran MARA and the National Library. Prior to joining Khazanah, he had a brief stint at Sime Darby Berhad and was an Associate Director of Innovation Associates before that. His areas of interest have been in industrial organisation, applied game theory and public economics. He also writes regularly for The Edge and the most recent book he edited is on New Challenges Facing Poverty Eradication and Rural Development (2005), another subject close to his heart. He holds a PhD from the Krannert School of Management, Purdue University.
Iqbal Khan - Founding CEO of HSBC Amanah, CEO of Fajr Capital

Iqbal Khan is currently CEO of Fajr Capital Limited and has led the Management Team since early 2007. He was previously Founding CEO of HSBC Amanah, where he built the business and team over eight years, as one of the fastest growing and most successful emerging businesses in the HSBC Group. Mr. Khan was a member of the Boards of Directors of HSBC Bank Middle East, The Saudi British Bank, and HSBC Investment Bank (Saudi Arabia). He reported directly to the HSBC Group Holdings Group CEO and now Chairman, Stephen Green. Mr. Khan has been associated with the launch of leading Islamic finance institutions such as Meezan Bank, Citi Islamic Investment Bank, and IDB Infrastructure Fund, and has overseen a wide range of business lines, including retail banking, corporate finance advisory, treasury and risk management, wealth management, private banking, and private equity. He is active in a large number of Islamic finance institutions industry initiatives, serving as an advisor to Islamic Financial Services initiatives of governments in the UK, the UAE, and Malaysia. Mr. Khan has received a number of industry commendations, including a special award from Euromoney in 2006 for “Outstanding Contribution to Islamic Finance.”
